#1 Maintaining a Livable Wage
Many restaurant jobs, particularly fast-food jobs, are only intended for part-time employment for unskilled individuals. This isn’t to say that restaurants don’t care about paying better wages. You must also care about this if you want your restaurant to succeed.
The main drawback is balancing higher income with rising food expenditures. Attempting to resolve the pay issue, on the other hand, demonstrates a more ethical culture.
Some restaurants provide free management training and even financial aid for college tuition. Others are doing away with tipping to make paying restaurant staff more equitable and to offer higher incomes to all employees.
#2 Eco-friendly Stuff Keep Environment Healthy
Straws frequently come into contact with animal life, polluting our beaches and shorelines. Plastic straws can be replaced with a variety of inexpensive and long-lasting alternatives. Prohibiting them could have unforeseen repercussions. As a result, it is preferable to use environmentally friendly and durable alternatives.
Bamboo straws, for example, have grown in popularity, and so also have biodegradable single-use straws. Only use straws if a consumer specifically requests them. If a customer needs a straw, your team can offer an environmentally friendly alternative. Some persons with disabilities, for example, rely on straws to drink without help. Likewise, children need straws and not having them on the table can be bad.
#3: Switch to electric hand dryers
After washing their hands, people must dry them. Electrical hand dryers can help any business facility, not just restaurants. Alternatively, using “gulp” paper towels is also a good choice.
The benefit of using dry air hand dryers is that this prevents the transfer of germs. In the restroom, if numerous people use the same towels, it can be quite contagious. Besides, managing towels or spending on paper towels is more costly. You will also have to hire a dedicated cleaner or train the janitor to continuously visit the restroom to pick up the paper on the floors and make sure the restroom is always clean and flushed. The janitor would have to replace paper towels in the dispenser continuously.
#4: Always Select Fresh Seafood
As with any type of food, it is important to buy fresh seafood for the restaurant. This helps reduce the risk of food-borne illness, often called “food poisoning.” Immediately after purchasing fish, place it on ice or in the refrigerator or freezer. Check using a refrigerator thermometer! Otherwise, store it in the freezer tightly wrapped in plastic, foil, or moisture-proof paper.
If you plan to use seafood within two days of purchasing it, keep it in a clean refrigerator at 40°F or below. Avoid keeping frozen foods for more than a couple of days.
#5. Clean and Healthy Environment
Customers appreciate a clean environment, so make sure your restaurant meets this requirement. For the comfort and health of your customers, you must maintain places where people eat by keeping them perfectly clean. Pay close attention to the cleanliness of the tables, chairs, floors, kitchen, and restrooms daily. Each shift should begin with a thorough walk-through to check that everything is in working order. Pay attention to the finer points, such as ensuring that the silverware, dishes, and glasses are immaculate.
